The Freedom of Information Act does not apply to private hospitals or health providers.
The Health Records Act 2001 gives you the right to access your health information when it is held by private sector organisations. This Act was effective from 1 July 2002.

To access your medical records from a public hospital or health organisation, follow the normal process for making a request under FOI.
